Blackthorns Fireworks by “Fusion of Fireworks”.

Blackthorn’s annual Firework Night took place on Nov 12th, a week late you might think, but only because we saved the best ‘til last!!  This could well have been the best display in the area and all due to the fact we have our very own pyrotechnic by the name of Howard.  This means we have a splendid, safe and professional display to which all members are invited and they are welcome to bring guests and all we ask is for voluntary contributions towards the costs.

The evening started with hot dogs and burgers cooked outside on our large communal barbeque......a great place to gather round on a chilly night!  Mulled wine was available and was very warming indeed!

The best Guy was chosen and taken to preside over the very large bonfire, sat in greater comfort than his original predecessor; on a settee, no less!!   As the flames took hold the crowd had to keep taking a few steps back as the heat was tremendous!

The raffle prize was to light the first firework of the night and the chairman’s wife was the lucky lady who started the evening off with a flurry of sparks on the Catherine Wheel.

There then followed a superb display of the loudest, biggest, brightest fireworks available!!!  The sky lit up in a myriad of colours and stars with echoes of “oohs” and “ahhs” from the ground!!

When the fire was low and the sky blackened once more, everyone made their way back to the barbeque for more food and mulled wine and rounded off the evening in the usual chatty, friendly way that makes Blackthorns the place to be!!

Unfortunately photographs just do not truly capture the thrill of the moment so I can only suggest you join Blackthorns in time for next November!!  You might as well join now and enjoy the summer with us first of course!!  Who knows, we might well have a few more fireworks before then!
